Paxton Roy Update – 16-Year-Old Andover Student Critically Injured in Ham Lake Crash

HAM LAKE, Minnesota — Community members across Anoka County continue to rally around 16-year-old Paxton Roy, an Andover High School student who was critically injured in a serious head-on collision on Monday afternoon, June 29, 2026.

According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Crosstown Boulevard Northeast in Ham Lake. Investigators reported that a westbound sedan driven by Roy, carrying two teenage passengers, crossed the center line and collided head-on with an eastbound pickup truck.

Emergency responders provided life-saving treatment at the scene before Roy was airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with life-threatening injuries. The two passengers in Roy’s vehicle and the pickup truck driver were also transported to area hospitals for treatment.

Investigation Underway

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office and traffic reconstruction personnel are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Investigators are examining the crash scene and available evidence as they work to determine the factors that led to the vehicles colliding. A final investigative report and any official determination regarding the circumstances of the crash remain pending.

Roy’s family has asked for privacy and urged the public to avoid speculation while the investigation continues.

Paxton Roy’s Condition

As of late September 2026, Roy remains under intensive medical care at Regions Hospital, where medical teams continue to monitor his condition and recovery.

Roy is an honor-roll student at Andover High School and participates in several sports, including football, wrestling and soccer. He also plays club soccer with North United SC.

Beyond athletics and academics, Roy has volunteered at local senior living communities alongside his family and is a member of Transform Church.

Community Support

Classmates, teammates, teachers, faith leaders and other community members have organized prayer gatherings and support efforts following the crash.

A community fundraiser titled “Support for Paxton Roy’s Critical Recovery” has also been established to help his parents, Ashley and Eric Roy, with medical expenses and other family needs during his recovery.
