GREENWOOD, Mississippi — Mary Linda Moore, 66, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026, leaving behind a loving family and a lifetime of memories cherished by those who knew her.

Born on June 8, 1960, Mary Linda was raised on Fort Loring Plantation just west of Greenwood. Her childhood on the farm helped shape her adventurous spirit and lasting appreciation for family.

A graduate of Mississippi State University, Mary Linda devoted her professional life to the university’s Extension Service, serving families throughout Alcorn County. Through her work, she was able to share her knowledge and talents while building meaningful connections within the community.

After retiring, Mary Linda enjoyed creating artwork and caring for her pets. Above all, family remained central to her life. Being close to her grandchildren, including living next door to her youngest grandchildren, brought her particular joy.

Mary Linda was preceded in death by her father, R. B. Moor.

She is survived by her mother, Betty Brand Pearson Moor; her brother, Robert Baird Moor, Jr.; her sisters, Margaret Moor Rinicker and Laurie Moor Putman; her son, Nicholas James “Cole” Moore and his wife, Chaylee, and their children, Talon, Harper and Haddy; her daughter, Mary Ashley Moor Yarber and her husband, Shawn, and their children, Jackson and Lennox; and her daughter, Laurie Elizabeth Moore and her children, Emma and Abby.

Funeral Service

A graveside service was scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton. The Rev. Dustin Long was set to preside, with friends and family invited to attend.

Mary Linda was described as a Christian woman who lived life on her own terms and loved her family deeply. She leaves behind stories, memories and moments that her loved ones will continue to cherish.
